Science Says: According to the American Psychological Association, 70-90% of all physician office visits are for stress-related illnesses and complaints. They also found stress to be linked to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, liver cirrhosis, and suicide (2007).
Stress locks the door to optimal health, but the key to COMPLETE health, is TRUST.
What does “Trust More, Stress Less” mean, exactly? Trust in what? Who? The answer is really quite simple – don’t trust yourself and your own ideas about what constitutes health! Let’s clarify that. If you are stressed out, overweight, taking medication for high blood pressure, type II diabetes or some other lifestyle disease, then there needs to be a shift in that which you are placing your trust. What you normally do has probably compromised your health, causing you to put on a few extra pounds or has you stretched and stressed to the limit. You are now about to be encouraged to abandon your routine and follow the secrets of The New Life.
Of the 10 principles of THE NEW LIFE, “Trust More…” is the most important, as it is the connective tissue that holds all the others together. By Trusting More in the principles’ sheer therapeutic value and the fact that these principles are laws that cannot be circumvented, you indeed will stress less. If you don’t believe that there is a physiological connection to what you think and how you feel, complete health will continue to elude you. For example, say you sit down to dinner but rather than enjoy the meal, you are stressed or worried about paying bills. After your meal, you don’t feel so well and reach for an antacid. What you didn’t realize is that eating while stressed hinders digestion. You unnecessarily suffer from indigestion day after day because there is a law in the body that prohibits eating and stress at the same time. It’s one of the laws of digestion and we cannot get around it.
What is Stress?
“Stress is the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses.”1
So, TRUST that all the principles will work together for your benefit, and alleviate your STRESS. TRUST that getting a good night’s REST and SUNSHINE will strengthen your immune function. TRUST that wholesome NUTRITION, EXERCISE and plenty of WATER, will improve your circulatory and digestive systems. TRUST that a life lived TEMPERATELY will bring balance. TRUST MORE in how what you do for others actually has health benefits for you. TRUST that learning to breathe properly will heal your body, even down to the cellular level. And, finally, TRUST that as you EDUCATE YOURSELF more in these wonderful principles of life, you will have so much
more to offer the world as your own mind expands and health increases.
